Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have spent the past week flicking peanut shells into the bin as they await news on a new striker but the latest reports have really rubbed them up the wrong way.
The Times sensationally states that well-travelled Emmanuel Adebayor is on Guus Hiddink’s short-list for a new striker, with the former Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur forward unattached.
Chelsea currently have just Diego Costa and Loic Remy as their forward options, with Radamel Falcao injured, and Hiddink is desperate to land a new striker this month as he eyes a charge up the Premier League table.
Another reported target is Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy but it’s extremely unlikely the side ranked second in the Premier League will let the England international go, whilst it would be a surprise to see the player himself accept a move to West London at this stage.
The reports have left our punters extremely worried that they won’t land a player that improves their forward line, with one regular angrily declaring he will tear up his season ticket if Adebayor ends up anywhere near his beloved club.
Chelsea fans, would Adebayor be a major mistake? Let us know in the comments below!
