Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have spent a lot of time wishing for better fortune as they sink their pints quietly by the fire but they’ve suddenly burst into life to express their surprise at one reported deal.
The Mirror states Chelsea want to sign Crystal Palace’s Scott Dann as replacement for the ageing Blues captain, with it stated that the West London outfit have watched the central defender in almost every game this season.
27-year-old Dann can expect to have his wages doubled if he moves across the capital, with Chelsea looking for a long-term replacement for their beloved captain- who’s seen his form dramatically decline this season, though he scored a controversial late equaliser against Everton.
However, Chelsea may not be able to lure him away from the club as he enjoys working with manager Alan Pardew- and the Blues are unlikely to be able to entice him to Stamford Bridge with the offer of Champions League football, as it seems Guus Hiddink’s side won’t be landing a spot in the top-four.
Our landlord believes Dann would be a capable addition for Chelsea but isn’t confident the player will want to move.
Chelsea fans, would Scott Dann be a decent Terry replacement? Let us know in the comments below!
