Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are baffled after hearing what the Telegraph has to say, with the publication saying that Tottenham goalkeeper Brad Friedel is a transfer target for Jose Mourinho.
The 43-year-old goalkeeper has not been part of the first-team plans at Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham this season, due to Hugo Lloris and Michel Vorm being higher in the pecking order.
The reason Mourinho is pondering a move for the veteran goalkeeper, is because the interest in Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech is growing day by day, with Arsenal the latest club to show an interest in the keeper.
The publication suggests that Friedel is among a number of goalkeeper targets that Mourinho is considering a move for, including Robert Green, Craig Gordon, Shay Given and John Ruddy.
Chelsea fans over by the dartboard in the Transfer Tavern are now heading to the bar to get another drink to get over the news, with many of the punters arguing that Friedel is simply too old to be playing in the top-flight of English football.
