The Daily Express have made a sensational claim that has all Chelsea fans here at the Football Transfer Tavern sitting up with interest.
The publication claim that the club have identified the player they want to succeed John Terry and are set to make an approach for Brazilian international Dede. John Terry may feel that he can play week in, week out still but the coaching staff have doubts over that and even the skipper knows that eventually his time as a first choice player will come to an end with a replacement needing to be found.
Vasco da Gama’s centre back Dede is at the top of their wishlist and even though Chelsea have more money than sense sometimes they still face tough competition for the player from Liverpool who are also eyeing him as a replacement for their retiring centre back Jamie Carragher.
Liverpool are considering a £15 million bid for the 24-year-old but Chelsea being Chelsea are ready to blow the Reds out of the water in order to land their target and make sure Dede is wearing blue come the end of the summer. Chelsea are hopeful that their strong Brazilian contingent at the club which includes Ramires, Oscar and David Luiz may sway Dede in their favour.
