Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern can’t quite get their head around the latest reports they’re hearing today, as it’s stated they’re looking to complete an audacious swoop this summer.
The Sun says Chelsea are looking to re-sign Romelu Lukaku from Everton, who left Stamford Bridge two years ago for a whopping £28m fee after impressing on-loan with the club and previously with West Brom.
The 22-year-old failed to get his chance at Chelsea but has shone since his departure, so much so that the Blues want him back, though they’ll have to pay double the price they received for the player’s services previously.
Lukaku himself could be open to a move as Everton are struggling to secure European football next season but should his signature become available, the Belgian international is likely to have plenty of suitors that can offer him a spot in the Champions League.
Amongst those said to be rivalling Chelsea in the market for Lukaku are Bavarian giants Bayern Munich, who our landlord believes would be a better fit for the young striker.
