Chelsea eyeing deal to hijack Manchester United’s move for 6ft 2 striker

Mario GomezChelsea supporting punters here inside the Football Transfer Tavern are unsure what to make of the news they have just read in the Daily Star, with the publication claiming that Chelsea want to hijack Manchester United’s move for Besiktas forward Mario Gomez.

The powerful 6ft 2 forward is most well known for his time at German giants Bayern Munich, where he notched an impressive 75 goals in 115 appearances.

The 30-year-old striker is renowned for his lethal finishing abilities, and this is something that our landlord here in the Tavern is raving about – and feels Gomez is arguably one of the most clinical strikers in world football, even at the age of 30!

Our resident Chelsea supporting punters enjoying a beer and burger here in the Transfer Tavern, admit they actually wouldn’t mind seeing Gomez at Stamford Bridge, as he clearly knows where the back of the net is – something that Diego Costa has found incredibly difficult this season.

A few Manchester United fans over by the pool table feel that Gomez is somewhat past it, and would rather the club targeted a move for someone who is in the prime of their career.

Chelsea fans….. What do you make of this news? Would you like to see Gomez at Stamford Bridge? Let us know your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!
