Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern haven’t had too much to be merry about this season, with their club languishing in the bottom-half of the Premier League standings, but they’ve popped a cork this afternoon.
Reports from Spanish media outlet Planeta Deporte state that Chelsea are looking to snatch Dani Carvajal from the clutches of Real Madrid, with the defender unhappy with his limited playing opportunities at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Chelsea have had defensive struggles of their own recently and despite Branislav Ivanovic recently signing a contract extension, the Blues will be looking for long-term improvements to their defensive ranks.
The Blues already boast a strong contingent of Spanish players, including Cesar Azpilicueta and Cesc Fabregas, who would help the young defender settle into his new surroundings at Stamford Bridge.
Our landlord believes Carvajal would be an excellent addition for Chelsea but believes the defender is more likely to join Bayern Munich, should he leave Madrid.
