Some of Portugal’s finest talents have flourished under Jose Mourinho and become fan favourites in the various European league’s he has managed teams, and Chelsea fans are listening closely to this rumour here in the Transfer Tavern.
The likes of Ricardo Carvalho at Chelsea in his first reign in particular, was a pivotal defensive player under the Special One.
Now after Chelsea’s dismal start to the season, especially in front of their own goal, it looks like the Blues manager will go back to his old backyard and try and sign a defensively minded youngster.
Rueben Neves, an 18-year old, midfielder currently playing for Porto in the Portuguese league is reportedly a target for Chelsea in the January transfer window, according to HITC – and our punters here in the Tavern admit they have never heard of the youngster, but are expecting big things from him already!
Mourinho, who famously won the Champions League with Porto in 2004, is said to be well aware of the potential the young midfielder has and after missing out on Paul Pogba over the summer, this one is likely to happen!
