Chelsea eyeing move for £60m-rated international striker

GriezmannChelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping for some excitement in this penultimate day of the transfer window, so they’re pleased to see some staggering news as they tuck into their Sunday roasts.

The Mail on Sunday report that Chelsea will make a move for Atletico Madrid’s £60m-rated forward Antoine Griezmann in the summer, should they fail to keep hold of Eden Hazard.

Chelsea are enduring a turbulent season and look extremely unlikely to land a spot in the Champions League next season, which has made it highly likely that stars like Hazard will walk from Stamford Bridge come the summer.

The Blues are working on preparations to deal with those potential losses though, as it’s said they’ll move for Griezmann should Paris Saint-Germain or Real Madrid capture Hazard.

However, negotiations may prove to be extremely difficult as the transfer ban imposed on Atletico Madrid means that they will fend off any interest, as they would not be able to enter the market to find a replacement.

Our landlord believes Griezmann himself wouldn’t want to move to Stamford Bridge as he needs Champions League football to accelerate his claim to be France’s first-choice striker.

Chelsea fans, is there any way you can keep Hazard? Let us know in the comments below!
