Chelsea eyeing move for midfielder of European giants, player open to transfer

VidalChelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have had a lot to think about this week following Antonio Conte’s appointment as their next manager on Monday and it seems the Italian is getting immediately stuck-in with transfers.

The Daily Mail states that Antonio Conte is heating-up his interest in Bayern Munich midfielder Arturo Vidal, who worked with the Italian during the duo’s successful time together at Italian giants Juventus.

Copa America hero Vidal only joined the Bavarian outfit last summer and the German side, who will replace Pep Guardiola with Carlo Ancelotti this summer, are keen for the South American icon to remain at the club.

However, Vidal himself has hinted that he’d be open to a reunion with Conte at Chelsea and it isn’t the first time he’s been linked with a high-profile switch to the Premier League.

Arsenal were linked with his services last summer before he joined Bayern Munich and with changes expected in Bavaria after Ancelotti’s arrival, there’s a danger that Vidal may find himself surplus to requirements.

The 28-year-old put in a heroic shift on Tuesday night as Bayern Munich overcame Benfica in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, which displayed the vast talents of Vidal once again.
