The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping for a few big signings this summer…
Antonio Conte desperately needs to bring in a few players over the next few months, with the Blues likely to be fighting on all fronts next season. The return of the Champions League is likely to stretch Chelsea’s already thin squad out even further, with a lack of depth likely to cause Conte a problem going forward.
Indeed, this is an issue that the Italian is seemingly looking to solve, with the Evening Standard noting that several players are now on the radar of Chelsea. According to the Evening Standard, Southampton defender Cedric Soares is the latest name to be added to the Blues’ shortlist ahead of a potential summer move, joining the likes of Ryan Bertrand and Virgil van Dijk in attracting Chelsea’s attention whilst playing for Southampton.
Soares’ form has been good this season, and so it has come as no surprise to our landlord that Chelsea are reportedly keen. Offering strong defending and impressive attacking, he offers the perfect balance for the Saints.
Chelsea’s attention will be firmly focused upon their upcoming matches for the time being, though, with the tough games coming thick and fast this year. A fine performance against Man City on Wednesday evening proved the Blues’ title credentials – with Tottenham now playing catch up.
Our landlord thinks that Chelsea are a shoe-in for the title.
