Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate to see widespread changes made to their side in January, so they’re pleased with reports that link them to a talented midfielder.
The Daily Star says Chelsea are considering a move for 23-year-old Barcelona midfielder Sergi Roberto in January, as they attempt to fight back after a woeful campaign thus far.
Spanish midfielder Roberto has enjoyed a tremendous rise to the first-team this season, contributing one goal and four assists as Luis Enrique’s side look to defend their three crowns secured last season.
Barcelona want to extend Roberto’s deal, with Enrique valuing the player at around £32m, but Barcelona will be left helpless to fend off interest in the player should Chelsea match the release clause in the New Year.
Chelsea fans at the bar believe it’s definitely worth looking at and their club should try to persuade Roberto to move to the capital, though they accept luring anyone away from Barcelona is a immensely difficult task.
Blues fans, is Sergi Roberto a midfielder you need? Let us know in the comments below!
