Chelsea eying signing of exceptional £39m Ligue 1 star

The Daily Star, citing French publication L’Equipe, state that Chelsea are eying a move for Paris Saint-Germain star Blaise Matuidi at the end of the season.

Matuidi, the French Player of the Year, has flourished since his arrival in the French capital in 2011, helping PSG to three consecutive Ligue 1 titles and moving PSG closer to competing at the top of the European stage.

With Chelsea looking for replacements for midfielder Ramires, who left for China last month, the Blues are eying a mammoth £39m move for the French international.

Persuading PSG into a deal for the 28-year-old midfield powerhouse will be tricky though as Matuidi is highly-rated in the French capital and is a crucial part of Laurent Blanc’s first-team.

Our landlord thinks this would be a top deal but his priority is preparing the bar for the Champions League’s return, which sees PSG and Chelsea clash this week.
