Chelsea face competition from trio of heavyweights in their bid to sign £70m-rated star

The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are excited about a possible arrival at left back.

According to an exclusive report by The Express, Chelsea have been given the green light to go ahead and complete the purchase of Juventus left back Alex Sandro.

Sandro was the subject of a £55m bid from Chelsea in the summer but they failed to land their man.

But Juve are now ready to cash in on the attack minded wing back after he has suffered a loss of form this season.

They are reportedly willing to accept offers of around £70m for the in-demand defender.

But Chelsea are not alone in their admiration for Alex Sandro.

Premier League rivals Manchester City are also in the hunt for a new left back this January after a serious injury to Benjamin Mendy has led to Pep Guardiola playing natural central midfielder Fabian Delph in that role.

Manchester United are also keen as Jose Mourinho prepares to offload Luke Shaw and sign a new player in that role.

And PSG have also taken an interest in the ten cap Brazil international as they continue to spend big in their quest for success on a European scale.

Landlord’s verdict

Despite having a poor season by his own standards, the 26-year-old would still be a catch for any top Premier League team.

Able to play at left back, wing back or even as a winger when needed, his attacking threat really adds some impetus to his team’s attacks.

While Chelsea have Marcos Alonso, they will be keen to rotate with another top quality wing back.
