There are audible gasps around the Football Transfer Tavern this evening as I read out the breaking transfer speculation coming from Stamford Bridge.
The Express speculates that Chelsea could lose three main players in January as Paris Saint-Germain eye a move for Juan Mata, Barcelona continue their chase for David Luiz and Arsenal maintain their interest in striker Demba Ba.
The paper suggests that PSG are ready to move again for the Spanish international after failing to land him on deadline day in the summer.
The 25-year-old, who has had limited game time under Jose Mourinho, could now be subject of £40 million offer from the Ligue 1 champions.
Meanwhile Barcelona have been monitoring Luiz’s situation at the Bridge as the Brazilian also struggles under new boss Mourinho.
The former Madrid manager reportedly believes that Luiz is too much a risk player and wants to see him sold. That could open up the possibility of a switch to the Camp Nou as Barca seek a long-term replacement for veteran defender Carles Puyol.
Finally Arsenal’s pursuit of Ba is not over. The Gunners still need to add a top quality striker in the winter window and the former Newcastle United man is thought to fit the bill.
Their approach to take him on loan in the summer failed as the Blues did not want to assist a rival and we can’t really see what has changed to encourage Chelsea to sell the Senegalese striker.
Would Chelsea really sell any of these three players? Let us know your thoughts below.
