Nothing gets the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern talking quite like a young player. It has become somewhat of an obsession for most of our Stamford Bridge-attending punters, with a lack of youth development clearly a point of contention amongst fans.
The Chelsea academy is one of Europe’s most successful, with various age groups winning numerous trophies every single year.
A handful of individual awards have been thrown in there, too, and another one of those came today for young Callum Hudson-Odoi. The English attacker, who has been involved in the first team over the last month or two, picked up the Player of the Month award in the Premier League 2 competition, owing to his success during the month of January.

Unsurprisingly, this has got the Chelsea fans over on Twitter talking, and unsurprisingly, they’re desperate to see him feature in some form against Hull City tonight. Indeed, they’re coming together with one collective message: give him a start!
Of course, Chelsea aren’t blessed with attacking depth, and so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the 17-year-old on the bench tonight, but with such a big game against Barcelona on the horizon, perhaps a starting berth makes more sense.
Either way, it’s clearly what the fans want to see. Take a look at what they’ve had to say below…
start him today

So why have Chelsea been benching this young superstar …they should give him a chance to excel..

Reward him with a start against Hull tonight We should be gradually easing him into the first team. Massive talent and it would be refreshing if a player that was developed through the academy from a young age established themselves in the first team for once @Calteck10

hope he starts today
