As far as incomings go, Chelsea’s work in the transfer market this month looks all but wrapped up.
Manager Maurizio Sarri had been keen on bringing in a new midfielder to replace Cesc Fabregas but, according to Telegraph journalist Matt Law, the Italian is unlikely to have that wish granted.
Law reports that Chelsea are wary of unsettling the likes of Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Ethan Ampadu with the signing of a new player in their position, while the future of Mason Mount, who is currently excelling out on loan at Derby County, is also something the Stamford Bridge hierarchy have taken into consideration.
Chelsea’s decision not to go through with signing a new midfielder, as things stand, comes after they rejected Callum Hudson-Odoi’s transfer request amid Bayern Munich’s interest in the 18-year-old, also per the Telegraph.
Going forward, if the Blues want to hold onto players such as Hudson-Odoi and Loftus-Cheek, then the above is exactly what they need to do. Words no longer look to be enough, meaning the club must now show their academy products that there is an actual route into the first team instead of handing out empty promises.
You can have a look at what Chelsea supporters have had to say on the matter below…
Good news. Now need to clear out the deadwood and those not good enough and give their squad places to academy prospects.

This is what we've all wanted, to bring in the youth. Yet somehow there's people kicking off we're not buying.

Good idea, I strongly believe Ampadu can do that job..

Sensible for once. We shouldn’t be spending 40M on players who aren’t going to improve our first 11. If Jorginho gets injured surely the team just needs to adapt. Move to a 4-2-3-1 and play with two centr midfielders and more attacking players

Great news! The club should start cleaning the dressing room and make space for youngsters lime Reece James, Mason Mount, CHO, Ampadu, etc. They are the future of the club!
