Chelsea fans on Twitter really aren’t sure what to make about their season award

The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to the news that their club has opened the vote for their Player of the Year. The fans can vote via the Chelsea website for the player who they believe has been the best performer this season, and the fans have narrowed it down between them, despite this season being deemed a failure for those associated with the club.

Chelsea’s season has quickly been derailed this season. Antonio Conte seems to have lost the winning formula that led him to the Premier League title in his debut campaign at Chelsea as the Stamford Bridge faithful now sit 5th in the league and seven points off of a Champions League spot. The club also failed in Europe too, the Blues came second in their group behind AS Roma, leading to a round-of-sixteen draw against Barcelona, a tie where they were comfortably dispatched 4-1 on aggregate.

The time has come for the fans to pick their standout performer for the year and whilst the disappointments on the pitch have come as a collective, there have definitely been some stars in the side. N’Golo Kante, Cesar Azpilicueta and Willian all seem to be picking up a lot of fans praise and it would come as no surprise if one of those three went on to win the award, voted for by the fans. The award will be given out at the club’s end-of-season event on Thursday 10th May.
