Gonzalo Higuain came to Chelsea on-loan with high hopes of succeeding in the Premier League as he has in both La Liga and the Serie A. However, his debut in the FA Cup against Championship Sheffield Wednesday was poor and the Argentine failed to have much, if any, impact on the game. The Blues, however, were quick to defend the striker.
Well played, @G_Higuain!

After ambling around up front, attempting to hold the ball up and just generally being no threat whatsoever to the Sheffield Wesneday goal, Maurizio Sarri hooked Higuain and sent on Olivier Giroud after 78 minutes. If the Argentine striker fails to fire in the next few weeks like he did last night then the pressure will quickly build on him, and the fans can only defend him for so long.
Despite the fact they had the creative influences of Ross Barkley, Willian and Callum Hudson-Odoi around him, the Blues were slating the service that Higuain was receiving and blamed the fact that they couldn’t give him any service for his all-around poor performance. If his next game, which will likely be away at Bournemouth on Wednesday, goes the same way then the 31-year-old will have some serious questions to answer.

He's had a right old struggle finding his feet, may need a little more time to adjust, but better chances will come his way.

The Blues were quick to jump to defend their new signing and will hope they don’t have to do the same thing after they face Bournemouth on Wednesday.Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
