Chelsea: Fans praise Ross Barkley for England performance

England eased past Bulgaria in their Euro 2020 qualifier during a difficult evening in Sofia, plagued by disgusting racism directed towards the likes of Raheem Sterling, Tyrone Mings and Marcus Rashford.

Goals from Sterling (2), Harry Kane and Marcus Rashford helped the Three Lions to a comfortable win at the Stadion Vasil Levski, though it was Chelsea’s Ross Barkley who stole the show for his country in the first-half, netting twice in the space of 12 minutes to put England three goals to the good heading into the break after Rashford’s 6th-minute opener.

Bulgaria offered little in the way of a threat at the other end of the pitch, and while the hostility of the brain-dead morons in the crowd did unfortunately overshadow events on the field, Gareth Southgate will still be extremely happy from what he witnessed from his young side last night.

Barkley, who is valued at £27 million (as per Transfermarkt), will be especially pleased with his performance considering he has struggled for form at club level this term. The 25-year-old is yet to score or assist for Chelsea in the Premier League so far, with his only goal of the campaign coming in the EFL Cup against Grimsby Town (via Transfermarkt).

Chelsea fans would have been delighted with what they saw from their midfielder last night, though, with some taking to Twitter to compliment the ex-Everton man on his performance:

Chelsea fans, what did you make of Barkley’s performance last night? Comment below!
