Reece James had only just returned from injury when he faced Grimsby Town in the EFL Cup a fortnight ago.
Does Christian Pulisic deserve more minutes at Chelsea?
The Chelsea full-back scored and assisted during the Blues’ 7-1 win over the Mariners at Stamford Bridge, with many fans of the west London club excited about what the future has in store for the 19-year-old.
James was called into Aidy Boothroyd’s England Under-21 squad for the Young Lions’ upcoming matches against Slovenia and Austria, but was withdrawn yesterday due to concerns about his fitness, per the Evening Standard.
Unsurprisingly, James’ withdrawal from the England squad caused concern for Chelsea fans, who have enjoyed what they have seen from him so far.
The teenager was an unused sub for the Blues’ league matches against Brighton and Southampton.
Reports on Twitter suggest that James’ injury isn’t serious, though, and that he should return to training next week; much to the delight of these Chelsea fans…
