Chelsea: Fans thrilled after Blues launch stunning comeback in Champions League

Chelsea fans were left jumping for joy as the Blues completed one of the most remarkable comebacks of this season’s Champions League.

The Blues were heading into the final 30 minutes of their clash against Ajax 4-1 down when they launched the first three-goal comeback by an English club in the competition since Liverpool back in 2005 (via BBC).

Captain Cesar Azpilicueta got the party started with the second Chelsea goal of the evening when he struck home from inside the penalty box in the 63rd minute.

Then, controversy reigned supreme when the Dutch league leaders had not one man, but, two sent-off for a series of ill-disciplined plays. Daley Blind was sent-off after he caught Tammy Abraham before Joel Veltman was adjudged to have handled the ball, being sent-off for a second yellow and giving away a penalty.

Jorginho scored his second spot-kick of the night to leave Frank Lampard’s side one short off a brilliant comeback. And just three minutes later Reece James completed it with a strike from just inside the box through a crowd of players.

Fans were in ecstasy as they took to Twitter to tweet their joy. Here is a selection of tweets from the west London faithful:
