Chelsea: Fans use club post to slate Ross Barkley

Blues youngster Billy Gilmour has slowly started to become integrated into the first team with Chelsea.

The 18-year-old has made four appearances for Frank Lampard’s first team this term, with his mature displays in a Blues shirt earning him credit as one of the Premier League’s hottest young prospects.

Gilmour’s last performance came in the EFL Cup against Manchester United on Wednesday evening, and, despite the west Londoners falling to a 2-1 defeat at Stamford Bridge, the teenager enjoyed another solid game in the centre of the park.

The Scot made two successful tackles against the Red Devils, alongside registering 1 dribble, 1 shot and a hugely impressive pass completion rate of 88.5% (via WhoScored).

With the likes of Mateo Kovacic, Jorginho, Mason Mount, N’Golo Kante and Ross Barkley all ahead of him in the pecking order at Stamford Bridge right now, Gilmour will have to bide his time as he awaits a regular starting spot for the Blues.

However, if he continues to impress when handed opportunities by manager Frank Lampard in cup competitions, there is every chance that he can become a regular fixture for the club in the near future.

Chelsea fans clearly love the 18-year-old, but have issued him with some words of advice following a recent comment he made about learning off his teammates on Twitter – with some warning the teenager not to listen to one player in particular…
