Chelsea could be without both Mateo Kovacic and N'Golo Kante when they welcome Newcastle to Stamford Bridge in the Premier League on Saturday, after the duo picked up injuries for their respective countries on international duty over the weekend.

In the case of N'Golo Kante, the 28-year-old was due to start for France against Iceland on Friday evening but picked up a slight groin strain so was withdrawn from the starting line-up by manager Didier Deschamps (via football.london).

His latest injury set-back is not deemed to be serious, though he is not expected to feature for Les Blues against Turkey this evening and could miss this weekend's clash against the Magpies if he fails to recover in good time.

The Blues are also concerned about Mateo Kovacic after the midfielder limped off against Wales last night whilst playing for Croatia. Details of the 25-year-old's injury have yet to be confirmed, but it could also see him ruled out of Chelsea's upcoming league match dependant on its severity (via football.london).

Chelsea fans on Twitter have been quick to voice their opinions on who they'd like to see line-up in midfield against Newcastle, should the aforementioned duo be ruled out - 18-year-old Billy Gilmour:

Chelsea fans, would you like to see Gilmour given a chance if Kante and Kovacic are ruled out? Comment below!
