Chelsea ready to fend off interest from Arsenal to secure signature for striker

Lacazette.jpgWe’ve barred a lot of Chelsea supporters for their reactions to poor performances so far this season in the Transfer Tavern – but there could be some good news for the defending champions.

With Diego Costa struggling for goals, Radamel Falcao not living up to his hype and Loic Remy doing pretty much nothing, Jose Mourinho is in the market for a striker.

The Daily Express declares that the man targeted is none other than Lyon hitman Alexandre Lacazette, with the Blues said to be going toe-to-toe with Arsenal and Liverpool for his services.

Lacazette set a Ligue 1 scoring record last term as he clinched the golden boot honour but he couldn’t inspire his Lyon side to the title, as Paris Saint-Germain defended their crown successfully.

Lyon’s start to the new season hasn’t been that great either, with a 1-1 draw against ten-man Marseille at the weekend optimising the struggles of Hubert Fournier’s side.

Whilst big clubs will be drawn towards the 24-year-old, a transfer could scupper his holiday plans next summer as he’s hoping to be booked into a nice break in France as his home nation hosts the European Championships.

Chelsea have the cash to persuade the French international to change his mind though – and we all know money talks.

Which side would benefit more from Lacazette’s signature; Chelsea, Arsenal or Liverpool? Get debating in the comments!
