Sky Sports are doing a magnificent job of keeping us up to date here in the Football Transfer Tavern on deadline day and the latest is that Chelsea have finally got their man.
The Blues have confirmed the signing of £26.1 million winger Juan Cuadrado from Fiorentina and the player will join the West London club on a four-and-a-half year deal.
We hope he lasts a little bit longer than Andre Schurrle who has departed to join Wolfsburg to make space for the Colombian.
After joining the club, Cuadrado gushed about his move and claimed: “I am very happy and thankful for this opportunity I’ve been given. I’m happy.
“This is a great club and honestly it is like a dream to join the Chelsea family and to know that the manager believes in me.”
Given the suspension Diego Costa is currently seeing out, we think there is a good chance of seeing Cuadrado make his debut at Aston Villa and our resident Blues fans cannot wait to see how one of the stars of the World Cup performs in England.
We think this is a huge move and would probably be the biggest deal this January (well February!) unless another club shocks us before the window finally shuts for good at 11pm and Jim White puts his yellow tie away until the summer.
Chelsea fans. Do you think Cuadrado will be straight into the squad for the trip to bogey ground Villa Park this weekend? Let us know your thoughts below.
