Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern spluttered out their pints is disbelief this afternoon, as it was revealed one of their worst signings in recent history is set to be handed a second-chance.
Fortunately for them, that opportunity won’t be coming at Stamford Bridge but, unlike Chelsea, Falcao could find himself playing in the Champions League next season.
The Independent says Falcao’s parent club Monaco are set to give him another chance to impress with the french principality side, despite the Colombian forward enduring a miserable two-years on-loan in the Premier League.
Once the most feared striker in Europe during his time with Atletico Madrid, an anterior cruciate ligament injury sustained in 2014 has robbed Falcao of his attacking prowess. Since them, he’s been more El Kitty than El Tigre.
During his two seasons in the Premier League, Falcao has managed to net just five goals in 35 appearances- whilst injury problems have continued to pursuit.
“We thought about bringing him back in January, but he was injured. We’ll see what happens at the end of the season. We won’t exclude the possibility of him coming back to the club in the summer.”
Our landlord would love to see Falcao back at his best but he feels the 30-year-old will unfortunately never reach those heights again.
