Chelsea: Fulham keen on Michael Hector - Chelsea

Scott Parker could be about to raid his former club Chelsea for central defender Michael Hector.

That is according to The Sun’s Tom Barclay, who reports that Fulham are keen on the 26-year-old, as well as Brentford’s Ezri Konsa.

Hector spent last season out on loan at Sheffield Wednesday, making 37 appearances in the Championship (as per WhoScored).

The Jamaica international signed for the Blues from Reading back in 2015 but has yet to make a competitive appearance for them, spending the last few campaigns out on loan at various clubs including Eintracht Frankfurt.

Not too many Chelsea supporters, if any at all, are likely to be bothered about Hector potentially leaving the club, considering his lack of involvement over the years.

Still, with 2.3 tackles per game in the Championship last season, which puts him in the top three out of the centre-backs who played more than 10 games, Hector did nothing to hurt his reputation while on loan at Hillsborough.

However, Lampard already has David Luiz and Antonio Rudiger to call upon, with the Chelsea boss a clear admirer of his former team-mate.

“His defensive stuff has been brilliant and I couldn’t leave him out. He’s probably the best centre-half in the league, for me, this season,” Lampard told Sky Sports (via Goal) back in 2017.

On top of Luiz and Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and returning loanees Kurt Zouma and Fikayo Tomori, who he worked with at Derby County last season, are further options, effectively making Hector disposable.
