One of the longest running transfer sagas of the summer is reaching it’s conclusion, and Everton fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are not happy.
Much of the summer has been spent discussing the future of John Stones over a few pints, with the England international having been the subject of three bids from Chelsea.
The last of which was understood to have been £30million, but still the Toffees refused to budge.
And now ahead of a reported £40million bid, Sky Sports reports that Stones has handed in a transfer request in order to force through his move to Stamford Bridge.
“There is nothing to comment on that,” said Martinez on Tuesday.
“Once more, it is always the same question and always the same answer. The only thing that matters now is the game we have in front of us. There is nothing to announce or discuss.”
With less than a week now until the end of the transfer window, we are expecting a conclusion shortly.
At the moment we can’t see past Stones making the switch to West London to join up with Jose Mourinho’s champions, with one punter admitting once the transfer request has gone in, it will become all about getting the best price possible for the Toffees.
