Chelsea handed transfer boost as prime-target rules out move to European giant

mahrez2Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have seen their hopes of signing a Premier League star given a tremendous boost, after the player rejected a move abroad.

The Daily Star quotes PFA Player of the Year Riyad Mahrez as ruling-out a move to hometown club Paris Saint-Germain, with the Algerian international stating his preference is to remain in England.

Mahrez, who only cost the Foxes £500k, has excelled with the Premier League leaders this season and Claudio Ranieri’s side are just one-win away from a shock title success with three games to go, with the title potentially being sealed away at Manchester United this weekend.

A host of clubs are interested in the 25-year-old, including Chelsea, and the player has given them a boost by revealing he has no intention of returning to France.

“Even today I am not too excited about the prospect of PSG. It is my town, but I do not see myself going back. I don’t really want to go back to France. France does not really excite me, I love England.”

It’s widely expected within the bar that Mahrez will leave Leicester City this summer, although our landlord doesn’t fancy Chelsea’s chances as he believes the Algerian will demand Champions League football.
