Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are preparing for a new lease of life under Antonio Conte this summer and they’re discussing reports that the club are moving towards signing a favourite of his over a pitcher of our beer.
The Times says Chelsea have opened talks with Italian giants Roma regarding the signature of midfielder Miralim Pjanic, who Antonio Conte is extremely keen to bring with him to Stamford Bridge this summer.
Conte knows the player well from his time in charge of Roma’s Serie A competitors Juventus and believes the Bosnian would be an excellent addition to the Chelsea midfield, which has struggled to dominate matches at times this season.
The talks with the Italian side proved to be extremely useful, as they discovered Pjanic has a release clause of £31m– which means the Blues will have no trouble landing their man, if they offer that figure.
Our landlord believes Pjanic would be a quality addition, though he still feels Cesc Fabregas and Nemanja Matic can work as a midfield pair with the right guidance- so he feels a priority transfer for the Blues should instead be a central defender.
Chelsea fans, do you agree with our landlord or is a midfielder the priority? Let us know in the comments below!
