Chelsea hold talks with prime managerial candidate

ConteChelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are pleased to see the long-drawn out saga concerning their managerial search seems to be drawing to a close and they’ve raised glasses with approval to who they believe is now the leading candidate.

GianlucaDiMarzio state that Chelsea have held talks with representatives of Italy boss Antonio Conte, as they search for the long-term replacement for Jose Mourinho, who was axed in December.

46-year-old Conte has long been touted as a potential successor to Mourinho’s position at Stamford Bridge and he now seems to be the prime target for the role, as Massimiliano Allegri and Diego Simeone will not be let go of by Juventus and Atletico Madrid respectively.

Conte has achieved great success with Juventus during his career and has also performed an admirable job with the Italian national team but he’s keen to test himself in new surroundings- and the Premier League would be the ideal destination.

Our landlord is unsure of Conte’s credentials for English football and he feels a manager with Premier League experience would be better suited for the job at Stamford Bridge, though he accepts there are not many potential candidates to choose from.

Chelsea fans, would you be happy with Conte as your next boss? Let us know in the comments below!
