Chelsea hoping to make major Gonzalo Higuain progress within days

Chelsea’s transfer window has yet to really kick into gear. They’ve signed Christian Pulisic, but the American isn’t set to move to Stamford Bridge until the summer, and so there’s been relatively little fanfare associated with that deal.

However, it’s looking like the Blues could finally kick into gear this week.

According to the Telegraph, Chelsea are hoping for some transfer news, with the Blues said to be looking to make progress in their deal to sign Gonzalo Higuain as soon as the end of this week.

Clearly, then, there’s a chance of some imminent news, and that’s exactly what the Blues need. The deal isn’t an easy one, hence why it’s taken to so long, but it appears as though they could finally be getting somewhere – and not a moment too soon.

He is, of course, on loan at AC Milan from Juventus, and you’d expect any prospective deal would require the Blues to somehow cancel his loan at Milan in order to bring him to Stamford Bridge – complicating matters as a result.

The Verdict

Though Gonzalo Higuain is past his best, he’s clearly better than Alvaro Morata, and so he would certainly be an upgrade for Chelsea.

However, there’a sense that this deal is taking too long to complete and could end up not happening, so this positive update is just what fans will have wanted.

That said, if they don’t now get the imminent news that they expect, that will likely raise concern to a fever pitch, as Chelsea seriously need to get their attacking issues sorted.
