Chelsea identify shock Premier League manager as Mourinho successor

ranieriChelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern rubbed their eyes is disbelief this morning, following audacious reports as to who their next manager could be.

With the fans dreaming of high-profile additions, Metro reports, via Tuttosportthat Roman Abramovich is considering bringing Claudio Ranieri back to Stamford Bridge.

The Italian boss was sacked by the Russian owner in 2004 when he brought the club, and replaced by Mourinho, but it seems the tables have now turned- with Ranieri raising his credentials by leading Leicester City to a shock Premier League title charge.

Ranieri’s Leicester sit second in the table on goal difference, behind Arsenal, and are showing no sign of a dip in form- despite many in the bar stating time and time again that Leicester will decline and slip away eventually.

It’s stated Ranieri still has an excellent relationship with the Chelsea owner despite his exit a decade ago and he could be set for an emotional return to Stamford Bridge, though many of our punters aren’t convinced this is a good decision.

Our landlord feels differently though, stating he has got excellent results out of an average group of players and believes he could do wonders in West London, should he be given the chance.

Chelsea fans, would Ranieri be a decent choice for your next permanent boss? Let us know in the comments below!
