According to the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern, this weekend’s clash against Swansea City could be a title-deciding fixture…
After an extremely slow first half of the season, Paul Clement has come in and completely revolutionised the Swans – and whilst they looked like relegation candidates a few weeks ago, a few of the punters in the Transfer Tavern are backing them to stay up comfortably this season now.
From Chelsea’s perspective, the game is an important one. Beating Swansea, who have been in fine form, would certainly be a statement from Antonio Conte – whilst a defeat could see the gap between first and second place drop to just 5 points.
It has come as a blow to the Blues in the Transfer Tavern, then, to learn that Chelsea could be forced to play the game without one of their most important players.
Thibaut Courtois recently pulled out of a media appearance due to a bout of gastroenteritis, as confirmed by the Tweets below, leaving a few of our Chelsea patrons concerned.

To add further fuel to the fire, according to the Sun, Courtois is now facing a fight to be fit for this weekend’s clash with Swansea – with there being concern that he might not recover from the illness in time.
This is a huge blow for the Blues, given that Courtois has been vital this season. He has featured in every Premier League game so far, and whilst he struggled during his early days at Chelsea – the Belgian is finally showing the form that saw our landlord tout him as one of Europe’s best young goalkeepers.
