Chelsea in race for Chilean talent

alexis.jpgThe Football Transfer Tavern is starting to hot up ahead of the end of the current football season with big transfer stories already building.

One player that has been continuously mentioned with a switch to the Premier League is Barcelona’s Alexis Sanchez and today the Express reports that Chelsea are ready to join the chase for the exciting forward.

The Chilean international has struggled since his £24 million move to the Camp Nou in 2011 although he has scored seven times in his 39 appearances this season and given his reported unhappiness he could be ready to leave the club during the summer.

Chelsea will face fierce competition from both Manchester and Arsenal in their pursuit of the 24-year-old forward with Arsene Wenger and Sir Alex Ferguson also admirers of his talents.

The Express reports that Spanish sources believe that the Stamford Bridge club are ready to make a move for Sanchez although they give no figures on the money that they are willing to offer.

The Blues and their new manager may be willing to ship £50 million flop Fernando Torres out of the club with Sanchez acting as his replacement.
