Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are licking their lips by the bar and it’s not just down to our new speciality brew, as it’s a piece of exciting transfer news that’s really whet their appetites this afternoon.
TuttoMercatoWeb state Chelsea have held talks with Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani about the possibility of bringing him to the Premier League, with the Uruguayan’s long-term future in the French capital shrouded in uncertainty.
The 29-year-old forward came on as a substitute to score the winning goal in Tuesday’s Champions League clash between the two sides, where PSG defeated Chelsea 2-1, and the Blues used this opportunity to begin negotiations with the experienced forward.
Cavani looks extremely likely to be moving away from the French capital in the summer, with European giants Juventus and Atletico Madrid also holding interest, but Chelsea seem to be at the front of the queue as it’s stated they’ve already provided details of a lucrative contract.
Our landlord isn’t entirely convinced as he feels Cavani will demand Champions League football from any new club, which Chelsea seem unable to offer.
Chelsea fans, is Cavani the answer to your struggles? Let us know in the comments below!
