Chelsea informed they’ll have to increase bid to £42m to capture Euro 2016 midfielder

andre gomesChelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are debating whether it’s worth increasing their bid for a targeted midfielder, after being informed it’ll require a hefty price-tag to land his services.

The Daily Mirror states Valencia have informed Chelsea they will not be selling Andre Gomes for cheap, having already rejected one approach from the Blues for the Portuguese international.

Chelsea have turned their sights to the 22-year-old after hitting a brick wall in their pursuit of Roma ace Radja Nainggolan but, due to Benfica holding the rights to 25% of any fee Valencia receive for Andre Gomes, the Spanish giants are demanding £43m for the Euro 2016 star.

Gomes impressed during Portugal’s opening game of the European Championships, a 1-1 draw with Iceland, and Valencia deem his services to be invaluable, whilst if they were to sell they want vast amounts of cash to bolster in their own transfer spending.

Our landlord is questioning whether Gomes really is worth the price-tag, though he has expressed concern that options for Chelsea could be running short.
