Chelsea jet off on scouting mission as Conte plots defensive change

The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate to see their side secure a new defender this summer…

The Blues have impressed at the back this season, but John Terry’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season, whilst both Gary Cahill and David Luiz are no longer the young players that they once were.

It will no doubt please those in the Transfer Tavern, then, that Tutto Mercato Web are reporting that Chelsea recently jetted off to Italy on a scouting mission – with scouts sent to watch Roma take on Lazio. According to Tutto Mercato Web, Antonio Rudiger and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic was the main players that Chelsea were looking at – with the former a long-term Chelsea target

Chelsea were linked with Rudiger last month by the Daily Mail.

A powerful, quick, agile defender – Rudiger would certainly be a good option for Conte. At just 23-years-old, he would be a long-term solution to Conte’s defensive dilemma.

With John Terry’s current contract expiring at the end of the season, could Rudiger fill that gap? Our landlord thinks so.

Chelsea fans – thoughts?
