Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have turned their weekend affairs from commiseration to celebration in recent weeks, as they’ve managed to remain unbeaten under the guidance of temporary boss Guus Hiddink.
Our punters remain concerned about their striking options at Stamford Bridge though, a concern Hiddink himself shares as The Daily Express state West Brom forward Saido Berahino is near the top of his January wish-list.
Chelsea have only just seen Diego Costa find his feet again, whilst Loic Remy remains unable to impress and Radamel Falcao’s nightmare continues- with the Colombian forward now facing time on the sidelines with injury issues.
With options looking bare, Hiddink recently confirmed that Remy would not be leaving amid a wealth of transfer speculation.
“We have a multitude of games so I hope Remy picks it up. I hope he will deliver if he is needed. We are short of options. I hope they will both stay fit. I would be concerned if either picked up another injury.”
“We are thinking about the situation. We have to have good competition, double occupation in every position. We must not go into the dangerous situation when something happens with one of the two strikers.”
With Falcao out for some time, Chelsea have just Costa and Remy to pick from- which our landlord sees as a major issue to the Blues chances of forcing themselves into the Champions League picture.
Chelsea fans, would Berahino be a good signing? Let us know in the comments below!
