For the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern, Ruben Loftus-Cheek is their side’s best chance of bringing an academy graduate into the first team…
The young English midfielder has been in and around the Blues’ first team for a few years, but as of yet, he hasn’t really gained much of a regular foothold in the Premier League.
His talent is clear for all to see, and in truth, regular game time is what he needs, and so for many of the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern, a loan move would be natural for the youngster.
After all, he is one of very few young Chelsea players that has yet to go on loan – and the experience could be a good one for him.
A loan to Newcastle had been expected in recent weeks, but now it would appear that the Blues are planning on going one step beyond for the youngster. According to the Chronicle Live, sources in London have revealed that the Blues want to see Loftus-Cheek go on loan in the Premier League, rather than drop down a division and play in the Championship.
Whilst a Newcastle loan isn’t ruled out, the prospect of regular Premier League football is clearly a preference for the Blues – and this is a notion that the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern can certainly get behind.
Our landlord has very high hopes for Loftus-Cheek, and feels that a loan move could be the making of the youngster. After all, he was never going to get a chance to shine amongst the likes of Matic, Kante and Fabregas – and so 6 months away from the club to impress could be the perfect platform for the English midfielder.
