The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern were hopeful that a deal could be concluded…
Kessie has slowly built quite the reputation for his outstanding performances in the Italian top flight, and so the prospect of him joining the Premier League table toppers was certainly an exciting one for the Blues in attendance.
However, just as the deal was beginning to look likely – the Blues have suffered a blow.
According to the Guardian, Chelsea’s £21 million bid for Kessie has been rejected – with Atlanta instead holding out for at least £34 million.
Frustratingly for Chelsea, it would appear as though any move for Kessie will need to get far closer to that fee – though our landlord isn’t expecting the Blues to cough up that sort of money.
The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are beginning to sour on the deal, with many in attendance suggesting that there are far better options already at the club. With Nathaniel Chalobah and Ruben Loftus-Cheek waiting in the wings, they think that it is time to give the kids a chance.
