Chelsea leading the line to land £42.5m-rated star, must make the right bid

The Chelsea fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are settling in for what could be a thrilling summer as manager Antonio Conte looks to grab the headlines with some big signings.

Premier League rivals have already begun their dealings, with Benfica defender Victor Lindelof on his way to Manchester United and Pep Guardiola at City having already secured both Bernardo Silva and Ederson.

With that in mind, the Blues will want to get going as quickly as possible and, having won the title in his first season, our landlord reckons Conte will look to the big names to take on the Champions League in his second.

Reports from Spain this week indicate that the former Juventus and Azzurri boss is closing in on a deal for Real Madrid star James Rodriguez.

Whilst there has been no approach for the Colombian international as of yet, Spanish newspaper Marca (via Sport Witness) believe that the Blues are front of the queue to land the playmaker and that all it will take now is the right bid.

The outlet claim that while the back-to-back Champions League winners are in no rush to sell, an offer in the region of £65m will be enough to engineer a move for the £42.5m-rated man.

Chelsea fans, we want to hear from you! What do you make of the Rodriguez rumours? Will he be at Stamford Bridge next year? Let us know below…
