Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have been taken aback by sensational claims that one of their club legends could be returning to the club imminently.
Their eyebrows returned to a normal level though when they heard this wasn’t in a playing capacity, with Didier Drogba claiming in his autobiography that Roman Abramovich wants him back at Stamford Bridge.
Drogba, now 37, is widely considered to be one of the best purchases of the Abramovich era and returned last season to win another Premier League crown before moving to MLS franchise Montreal Impact.
12 goals in 12 appearances for the Canadian side show he still has the talent in front of goal, which Chelsea could use this season due to their woes, but Drogba’s return would be more likely to be in a coaching capacity.
Fans are pleased to see the club utilising their legends in positive ways, believing that this will help the club behind the scenes and bring Chelsea back to the level they should be at.
Chelsea fans, would Drogba be better than Diego Costa? Is a return for him the right thing? Let us know in the comments below!
