It’s been a cracking season for Chelsea in the Premier League but the Blues fans lining the bar here in the pub want to see more improvements made over the summer.
Chelsea ended up strolling to the Premier League title but it’s clear that in the near future, the ranks will need to be improved further to see the squad reach even higher heights next season.
And one former Chelsea legend has been on the warpath recently, suggesting that had the Blues been in the Champions League later on this campaign, their League form might have suffered.
Former midfield favourite Claude Makelele has also picked out N’Golo Kante as one player that might have struggled to reach the dizzy heights we saw from him this season had he been involved in Europe’s elite competition.
Taking to the Daily Mail, Makelele said: “This season he did not play in the Champions League. Every four days there will be games. With the national team there will be games. There will be a lot of games. He needs to get that experience,’ he said.
Makelele was also sure that if Kante does continue at this level, he might be able to outperform him later on in his career.
“When he is at that level, he will not run 90 minutes all the time. He will need to listen to the rhythm, the way he plays. This will be key for him. I hope this will be the situation. I hope he does better than I did in my career,” he added.
Kante’s back-to-back League titles have surely added to his stock value but how will he fair against the biggest sides in the world next season?
