Chelsea legend rules-out morale boosting return

Frank Lampard (Chelsea)Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have had their January dreams shattered as an iconic club legend ruled out a romantic return with the Blues.

Jose Mourinho’s side have endured an abysmal start to the Premier League season, with eight points from the opening eight games leaving the defending champions languishing in 16th position in the table- seemingly out of the title race already.

Some punters at the bar hoped Frank Lampard would return to Stamford Bridge on-loan in January to provide a major boost but the former England international ruled-out a return to England.

Lampard left Chelsea in 2014 and controversially spent a season on-loan at Manchester City, before moving permanently to new MLS franchise New York City FC; where he plays alongside Andrea Pirlo and David Villa.

The Chelsea legend has struggled with injuries Stateside and plans to return to full fitness next season, which requires a rest over the post-season; when a potential loan switch would take place.

Chelsea supporters sipping a pint of bitter are gutted, as they dreamt of a morale-boosting return in the same fashion they saw Thierry Henry enjoy with Arsenal a few years back.

Blues fans, would Frank Lampard provide a tremendous boost if he arrived on-loan? Let us know in the comments below!
