There a few bemused looks around the Football Transfer Tavern as David Woods from The Daily Star announces that new Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is lining up a surprise swoop for Manchester City outcast Edin Dzeko.
Manchester City will have no desire to sell Dzeko to one of their rivals in the Premier League but the new Blues boss has clearly outlined a move for the Bosnian international and will be willing to step aside to let City land Napoli striker Edinson Cavaini.
The former Real Madrid manager has already seen first choice striking target Radamel Falcao move to French big spenders Monaco and is desperate to secure a strong, skilful target man that he likes in his squads.
The 27-year-old is something of a fans favourite at the Etihad Stadium after his £27 million from Wolfsburg after he scored vital goals during City’s amazing run to the Premier League title in 2011 however it appears that his time in Manchester is coming to an end and he has been tipped to leave this summer.
Do Chelsea really want the City striker? Shouldn’t the club be looking for bigger striking targets? Rate this rumour below.
