Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are discussing a surprise report that’s emerged from the continent, linking them with a former Premier League flop.
TalkSport says the Blues are lining-up a move for Fiorentina striker Nikola Kalinic in January, a player who has been in fine form this term with nine goals in the club’s Serie A campaign; sitting second in the top-scorer charts behind Gonzalo Higuain.
However, despite the player’s fine form, concerns have been raised by those in the tavern with strong memories- as they recall the player’s unsuccessful stint with Blackburn Rovers between 2009 and 2011.
Those that have followed the 27-year-old’s journey since though have stated this would be a good deal, pointing to the fact that Kalinic impressed at leaving Ewood Park for Ukrainian side Dnipro and then transferring his form into Fiorentina’s title charge.
Chelsea are in need of forward recruits to bolster their struggling line as their current crop of strikers in underperforming, leaving the Blues languishing in the wrong half of the Premier League table.
