Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are excited to see what the future holds under Antonio Conte and it seems the Italian boss is looking to raid the league he knows best.
23-year-old Rudiger only signed officially for Roma yesterday, after completing a £6.9m transfer from Stuttgart, with the Italian giants activating a clause they possessed in the loan agreement made last summer.
Despite Rudiger impressing in Rome, and the Serie A side moving to secure his signature, they could still sell for a profit, with a financial boost of around £13m for the sale of Rudiger potentially going a long way in the side’s hopes to topple Juventus from the top of Italian football.
Conte is keen to improve Chelsea’s leaky defence this season and sees Rudiger as an ideal successor to John Terry, who recently ended transfer speculation on his own future by penning a one-year extension at Stamford Bridge.
Would Rudiger be a better option than John Terry? Let us know in the comments below!
