Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern still haven’t got used to the idea of their club without captain John Terry and they’ve continued to down their drinks at the bar to drown their sorrows.
The club themselves seem happy with their plans to go ahead without the long-serving skipper though, as Italian outlet CalcioMercato state the Blues are lining-up a move for AC Milan’s highly-rated defender Alessio Romagnoli.
21-year-old defender Romagnoli is one of the most exciting defensive prospects currently in the Serie A and with AC Milan continuing to underperform, as they have done consistently in recent years, the defender may be open to a switch to Stamford Bridge.
Persuading Milan themselves into a sale would likely be a more difficult task, although Chelsea are prepared to pay £30m for the signature of the highly-rated defender- who’d link-up with compatriot Antonio Conte, with the Italy boss widely reported to be in-line for the Chelsea job.
Romagnoli would provide competition to Kurt Zouma and Gary Cahill, whilst the latter may still be on the way out. Our landlord feels this would be a perfect move for the club, stating Romagnoli would cost far less than Everton’s John Stones.
Chelsea fans, should you end your pursuit in Stones to sign Romagnoli? Let us know in the comments below!
